Storm Windows

Mercury Excelum XL400 combination storm and screen windows are triple-track tilt action type with wool pile weatherstripping. Each unit is fully assembled, complete with all hardware, glazing, screening and suitable securing fasteners, and are ready for installation. All materials are extruded from 6063ST-5 aluminum alloy.

Frame

The frame head and jambs are heavy extruded section, .045 thick. The frame consists of an outside frame integrally formed with an inside frame and a tripple step down track. The sill is designed to accept an extruded channel expander and the meeting rail has a horizontal extruded channel torsion bar screwed to the upright frame members to prevent bowing. The frame is miter cut in apperance and the base of the frame is double sealed with an expanding channel for expanding the size to meet the pitching of the sill. The frame's flat sill prevents dirt and snow from accumulating in the pocket.

Glass Panels

The glass panels are made of an extruded marine glazing design, wall thickness .045 with wool pile. The glass is single strength, quality "B" window glass.

Screen Panels

The half size screen is made of 18 x 16 charcoal aluminum wire mesh, .012 and .013 diameter and 56S aluminum alloy alclad.

Operation

The window is of a verticle sliding type with three seperate glide sets; one for upper, one for the lower lite and one for the screen, each of which is free to move from top to bottom. Ech of the above inserts are easily removable from the inside of the building without requiring removal of any part of the frame. Glass panels have full interlocking meeting rails. When the window is in the closed position, each panel is weatherstripped in such a way that the pressure on the pile against the track of the frame create a tight closure.

Hardware

All screws used in the construction of the window are stainless steel. All lock bolts and insert corners are zinc zamac alloy in accordance with the American Die Casting Institute specifications.

Color

Windows are painted either white or brown.
